Breakfast
Breakfast is free to all students this year. Studets eat breakfast in the classroom. I will be sending home a letter at the beginning of the school year asking if your child will be eating breakfast at school on a daily basis, on occasion (without parent permission), or not allowed to get a breakfast without a note. Any option is fine but I want to make sure there are no surprises.
Lunch
School lunches are free to all students this year. There are items that can be purchased a la carte that are not included in the basic lunch. Students can also bring a lunch from home. Please make sure all lunch totes are labeled on the outside.
If you choose to send in lunch money (for extra items) please send it in a sealed envelope or baggie with your child's first and last name and the amount written on the front.
Snack
Each day, your child will need one separate snack, in addition to lunch. I do not know of any allergies at this time so please let me know if your child has one. The snack must be a healthy finger food such as grapes, pretzels, goldfish, granola bar, something that can be eaten with hands- Please nothing that requires a spoon! Please pack the snack separate from your child's lunch! This will help us keep snacks and lunches separate and will avoid confusion. (The front pocket of a backpack works as a great spot for a snack.)
Transportation
I will need to know how your child will be getting home each day. There is a transportation form that I will need filled out during move-in-night in which you will specify how your child gets home each day and the individuals allowed to pick up your child from school. I will need a note, email, or phone call to the office if there are ever any changes to your child's normal transportation schedule.
Birthday Celebrations
Children's birthdays will be celebrated in the classroom! Your child may choose to do the following options when celebrating his/her birthday:
*Bring in a favorite book and have a parent or adult from home read to our
class (or if no one can come, I will read it).
*Bring in a non-edible treat for the class such as pencils, stickers, etc.)
We do not have food for birthdays in our classroom! Please contact me prior to your child's birthday so we can plan accordingly.
Water Bottles
Students may bring in a water bottle to use in the classroom. Please make sure they are a sippy-cup style-meaning that if they tip over they will not spill. No screw cap water bottles or ones that have removable caps. There is a drinking fountain in the classroom as well.
Shoes
Please send your child to school with shoes he/she can take off and put on independently. Please no shoes with laces until your child is able to tie. Gym shoes are needed for the days we go to gym as well! The playground base at our school is made of small stones. Sandals and flip flops will be difficult to play in and will also get rocks in them. I recommend gym type shoes or boots!
Special Classes
Your child will go to one special class each day. We rotate through gym, music, art, and computers. We will also go to library once a week and your child will be able to check out a book from our school library at this time.
Communication
I will be using Bloomz this year as my primary communication tool. Directions for signing up will be available at move-in-night. Please make sure to sign up and download the app!
I also have a school email that you are welcome to use. My email is:
[email protected]
Newsletters will be sent home via Bloomz periodically to let you know what we are learning about in the classroom.
Lastly, please call the school if there is a message that you need to get to me that is time sensitive. (Your child is getting picked up early, your child is going home a different way, etc.) There are times that I may be out of the building or unable to check my email/phone. Thank you!
Communication Folder
Your child will need a 2 pocket folder which will come to and from school every day. This folder will be used to send home notes from school as well as to send home student work. Please place any notes for me in your child's communication folder. Please make sure any money is placed in a sealed and labeled envelope or baggie. I will check folders daily and ask parents to check them daily as well.
Labels
Please label everything with your child's name including coats, water bottles, back packs, etc. This helps us greatly when things get misplaced.
